How it all started
The inspiration for Indome Pool comes from a desire to have access to indoor swimming with good air quality and a reduced chemical load in the water, coupled with a life-long dream of being able to swim in a body of water SAFELY, AT NIGHT. Where can one find all of this in one place? So, as it turns out, nowhere near me. As a result, I had to build my own swimming situation to satisfy all of these criteria.
This project would take me on a several years’ journey from having a small and temporary “pool in a bag” setup to a permanent installation with a concrete deck, moisture barrier, drainage, leaching field, UV sanitation, a heater, and, most prominently, a geodesic dome made of fiberglass beams and polycarbonate panels enclosing the pool and deck area.
While the project is approximately 90% completed and by the end of last season we were able to effectively have a safe indoor place to swim, at night, there are a number of aspects that remain to be finished this and the following season. Come and watch the process as I share both the pitfalls and progress of building my Indome Pool.
