Indome Pool Pre-Build Checklist

1. Decide Length of Annual Commitment

  • Do I want to make a seasonal or year-round commitment to an Indome Pool?
  • How much time do I really have/want to dedicate to pool maintenance?

2. Choose Area of your Property to Build an Indome Pool

  • On what area of my property do I want to build?
  • Do I want a permanent or semi-permanent structure?

3. Choose Size, Shape, Material and Substrate of Dome

  • What size and shape dome do I want to build over my pool?
  • What kind of foundation or base do I want for the dome/ pool deck area?
  • What type of material will I use to build my dome?

4. Determine what kind of Landscaping and Excavation you will need

  • Will I recess the pool in the ground completely or will it be a semi-in-ground pool?
  • Will I incorporate drainage in the pool decking area for splashing/exiting the pool?
  • Will I need to account for runoff drainage from the dome within the landscape of my property?
  • How will I finish the curtilage, or the immediate area around the indome pool?

5. Choose Contractors

  • Pick licensed and insured contractors
  • Make sure you comply with local and state regulations with respect to obtaining building permits, setback and safety laws.
  • You may need to contract for the following types of contractors: landscapers, electricians, gas-pipe fitters, concrete and carpentry.
  • Interview contractors/view previous work/get recommendations regarding specific contractors – don’t necessarily pick off the internet without some method of vetting the quality of the company’s work.

6. Buy/Rent Equipment

  • DO YOUR RESEARCH – then choose your equipment for purchase:
  • type and size of pool
  • pool filtration and pump
  • UV Sanitation
  • pool heater
  • dehumidifier
  • air purification system
  • dome materials
  • DO MORE RESEARCH – before you rent equipment for the build.
  • Rentals may include: staging, ladders, planks, a lift and someone qualified to operate it, and various power tools

7. Schedule the Stages of the Build

Perhaps this will sound obvious or intuitive, but a schedule will be helpful to coordinate with so many different moving parts and different experts/contractors needed to complete the job.

CAVEAT: That being said, the schedule will likely shift as unforeseen obstacles present. So it is important to understand ahead of time, that a project of this scale will almost definitely encounter some snags. Knowing this can prevent you from having unnecessary frustration when unexpected hurdles arise.
