Hey there, Seahorse here, and welcome back to another episode of Late Night Maintenance in the Basement, because my kids own most of the hours from daytime into the early evening. Apparently, the Seagull has landed because, tonight’s video focuses on the replacement pool vacuum that Aiper sent me after recalling the Aiper Seagull Pro.
This, of course, is the pool vacuum we had here on the Domestead for the last two years. I did a recall re-boxing and return of the Aiper Seagull Pro in a separate video with the link to the official Aiper recall list in the description. If you would like to see that video or check to see if your Aiper model is on the recall list you can click the link here.
While we were mostly satisfied with the performance of the recalled vacuum as far as how well it cleaned the pool floor and walls, we had noticed some charging issues with the Aiper Seagull Pro, which apparently were linked to an overheating battery issue. Naturally, we were relieved to find out about Aiper’s voluntary recall and replacement program, for which our vacuum qualified. Initially, Aiper had communicated that as there were supply issues, there were a number of models that were being utilized to satisfy replacement demands. As a result, we did not know which model we would be receiving. As it turns out, we would receive the Aiper Scuba S1, which appears to be their current baseline model.
This vacuum was touted to have similar to better cleaning capabilities as the Aiper Seagull Pro, and the company definitely presented it as an upgrade. After unboxing, and using it for the first time (on the floors only, thus far), I can confirm that the Aiper Scuba S1 is definitely a better and more efficient pool cleaner with respect to the pool’s floor. We had just relined our pool and filled it with new water, though throughout that process a fair amount of sand had made its way to the pool floor. As you may know, sand is the perfect test for pool vacuum filtration capabilities and the Aiper Scuba S1 did a fine job (pun intended) on removing all perceptible sand from the pool. This includes both visually as well as not being able to feel any sand at all when walking in the pool.
The rest of the video is comprised of the unboxing reveal of the Aiper Scuba S1 as well as the first daytime operation of the new vacuum in the recently relined pool. If you want to see how we relined the pool and made it look brand new, you can click the link here to see part 1.
As always, there is a funny little song to accompany the rest of the video, and in this case it is a remix of the song from the original vacuum recall video. I will be sure to do a short followup video on the Aiper Scuba S1’ s performance on pool wall cleaning as this video only covers how well it does on the pool floor. At this point I hope it sucks just as much as the original vacuum, because it always left the walls super clean, but I will definitely report back to let you know if the Aiper Scuba S1 is as great at wall climbing and cleaning as its predecessor, The Aiper Seagull Pro.
So, it appears that we have leveled up with the Aiper Scuba S1 as far as overall vacuum performance and safety with respect to battery overheating. Though it does bear mentioning that the manual warns against over charging, and not to charge the vacuum in the heat or sun. These caveats lead me to believe there still needs to be an abundance of caution around the potential of battery overheating, even with this new model. I hope this has been helpful. Happy vacuuming!
Want a reasonably priced pool vacuum that does an excellent job of cleaning your pool walls and floor? Then look no further than the Aiper Scuba S1!
